The Story

My journey into the world of affiliate marketing was full of twists and turns. The following is a quick overview of how I got involved.

Finding My Way

I grew up in Montreal Canada and I had always had an interest in the world wide web. Despite this attraction I never considered the possibility of making money online. My first chance to pursue my passion was 5 years ago when I was applying for college. I found some terrific programs on web development but in the end I decided to play it safe and enroll in a commerce program. On complication of my commerce degree I proceeded to University to obtain a degree in Accounting. During my first two years in university I was doing extremely well. I had a GPA of 3.7 and I was really enjoying accounting. My future seemed clear and I knew where I was going.

A Change of Heart

In the summer of 2007 everything began to change. I finally took the incentive to follow up on my buried passion for the web. I started by learning HTML/CSS and moved onto PHP and other more advanced web technologies. I discovered this stuff really interested me and I was spending 10-12 hours a day learning it, it was taking over my life. Summer finished too quickly and I was back in school. Suddenly my once interesting accounting classes became boring as I was constantly thinking of all the stuff I had been learning about.

And Then Came Affiliate Marketing

Soon I had a good foundation and knowledge in regards to web development. This is when I started to explore ways of monetizing and marketing websites which quickly lead me to the discovery of affiliate marketing. At first it seemed too good to be true but it was extremely interesting. I started researching the topic and decided this was something I had to do.

Looking Into the Future

At the time of writing this it is March 2008. I launched my first campaign one week ago and I am determined to turn this passion into a profitable business. I currently have 5 classes left until I’m finished my accounting degree which I will complete. Despite my determination to become successful affiliates I still believe in the importance of higher education. I have seen the benefits of my educational background in both real life and affiliate marketing. I will continue my quest to being a super affiliate on a part time basis until May 2008 and then I will be taking the summer off school to achieve my affiliate goals. If this results in a less active blog over the next two months I apologize, I will do my best to keep you updated.
