When I posted my May earnings I also blogged about how I would like to move away from Facebook. In reaction to that I got this interesting comment:
“Why are you trying to move AWAY from FB? …. Looks like you’re having a good amount of success with it.â€
First of all I should reword what I meant by “moving away from Facebookâ€. I’m not going stop advertising on Facebook as It provides me with some good income BUT I’m going to try and balance out my earnings by spending more time working on search campaigns while using my Facebook profits to fund them.
My main reason is quite simple. You don’t want all you eggs in one basket. Facebook campaigns are not long-term so when all your income comes from Facebook it puts you in a very risky situation. This is due to the nature of Facebook. If your ads are targeting 1 million people it is only a matter of time until you exhaust that market. For example last month my best day was $1000 PROFIT! That’s right, 1/5 of my months profit came from one day. When I had to take that campaign offline my revenues went down to under $400 because I did not have anything else of significant volume generating income. After that my next most profitable campaign hit it’s monthly lead cap so my revenues went down to $50.00 putting lots of stress on me as I had to get a new campaign online.
Needless to say last months experiences taught me some valuable lessons about Facebook that I would like to share with you. The most important thing any Facebook marketer must do is have multiple campaigns running at the same time. Keep in mind that on Facebook it is only a matter of time until profits margins on a campaign start to go down. Take advantage of the fact that Facebook campaigns are fairly quick and easy to set up and try to get as many running at the same time as you can.
It is a good idea to venture into different programs. I have ran some ads on facebook recently, but have been focusing more on Adwords. I have spent about $80 this month so far, but profited about $10. For going in to my second month, I am still learning a lot, and having any profit at all is a great achievement for a new Affiliate Marketer. I love reading your blog Neil because you post valuable information, keep it up!
