Advertising outside of the USA seems to be a hot topic among affiliate bloggers these days. I’m going to hop on the band wagon because it really is true! To show you how advertising outside of the USA has affected me I’ll provide two examples from the campaigns I have been working over the past month.
Example 1) Last week I was working hard on a campaign. I started by only targeting Canada. Eventually I got it converting at a 50% ROI so I figured I would bring it into the US market. A few days later 500 Click from the USA have resulted in only 20 conversions! That is not even -50% ROI.
Example 2) Last post I shared my revenue numbers from May. Guess how much of my $10,000 in revenues was from Canadian traffic? This may surprise you but it was over 95%. Again I tried brining some successful Canadian campaigns into the USA and they totally flopped.
That actually surprises me, considering the size of the target market in relation to the US. I’ve heard (well, read) a lot of good things about targeting Australia… food for thought?
